Red Flags - Learning to listen to your instincts

Part 1

A few years ago, I escaped a violent relationship. I was very fortunate to have been able to walk away and never look back. As I stood in the very long line at the court house to apply for a restraining order, a thought occurred to me. Why did I have to wait until I reached this point to understand the dynamics of violence?
Why did I have to go through so much pain and fear, to finally see how important it is to listen to my instincts and see red flags in potentially violent people. The more I thought about those questions, I realized there are many people out there just like myself. Some who can't even afford to take time off to fill out the very complicated forms and stand in the very long lines. From that point on, I promised myself I would one day use my experience to help others learn to understand red flags and the importance of seeing them at the beginning of a relationship. Remember, violence happens to both men and women so I am hoping that my words will be able to reach everyone. more...
